A Place to Grow

A Relationship-Centered, Nature-Connected, Bilingual Program for Ages 3–6

Welcome

Mariposas is a small, nature-connected learning space where young children are supported to grow through relationship, creativity, and meaningful experiences.

This program is designed as a calm and intentional environment where children are seen as whole, capable individuals, and where their curiosity, emotions, and ways of being are honored.

At Mariposas, learning unfolds through connection—to self, to others, and to the natural world.

About the Program

A Place to Grow is a small group program where children gather in a consistent weekly rhythm that supports both independence and belonging.

In this space, children are given:

  • time to explore their ideas deeply

  • freedom to express themselves in many ways

  • opportunities to build meaningful relationships

  • daily connection with the natural world

This is a slower, more intentional approach to early childhood, where learning is not rushed, and each child is supported to grow at their own pace.

Our Approach

Mariposas is guided by a whole-child, relationship-centered and child-led philosophy, where connection is the foundation for all learning.

Our work with children is rooted in:

🌿 Rooted in Nature — Learning with and from the natural world
🌿 Guided by the Child — Following each child’s curiosity and developmental rhythm
🌿 Held in Relationship — Building trust, connection, and a strong sense of belonging

We honor the whole child—body, mind, and inner life—through movement, creativity, storytelling, practical experiences, and time in nature.

Children are also gently introduced to Spanish through songs, storytelling, and everyday interactions, becoming a natural part of their experience and expression.

The Learning Environment

As part of this next phase, the program takes place in a dedicated outdoor learning space, centered around a yurt and surrounding forest environment.

This space supports a calm and grounded rhythm, where children can move freely between indoor and outdoor experiences, engage with natural materials, and develop a deeper relationship with the living world around them.

Daily Rhythm

Each day at Mariposas follows a gentle and predictable rhythm that supports both exploration and grounding.

Our days may include:

  • Arrival and connection

  • Open invitations for play and exploration

  • Circle time (songs, stories, connection)

  • A guided experience or project

  • Outdoor / nature time

  • Closing and reflection

This rhythm creates a sense of safety and continuity, while still allowing space for spontaneity and wonder.

This is not a large classroom; it is a small learning community.
